make every piece of furniture from raw wood. I use time honored techniques and joinery to accomplish this. There are also many new and exciting ways to accomplish the same tasks. Some furniture is so revealing that it requires there be no fasteners (nails, screws) showing. For these instances, certain techniques (hidden screws and hidden joints) and glue is what holds the piece together. craftmanship 1

ometimes, many boards have to be joined to appear as one board. The reason for this is simple - trees don't get that big. This process is important because if the piece is to be stained, then the goal is to have all boards match in grain pattern as well as color. craftmanship 2

ometimes, it's in the details. In this piece, the edge of each drawer was shaped to match the molding on the outside of the dresser. This detail is not obvious until the drawer is opened. craftmanship 3

ere is an example of a before and after photo. The drawer on the left has been assembled, but is not finished. The drawer on the right has been finished. You will notice the edges of the drawer on the right have been smoothed over so as not to scrap your hands on them or have your clothes catch the edges. This was done on this piece as this is a baby's changing station. craftmanship 4

n this photo, you can see how the function has been integrated with the aesthetics of the piece. This piece appears to have 2 tops. And, in fact, it does. The reason is that this piece was designed for the wider top to be used as a baby changing station, then removed when the child grows out of diapers   craftmanship 5
