.
Can you match a piece of furniture that I already have?
.
Yes/No. It is not always possible to EXACTLY match a piece
of furniture. All furniture is not built the same way. The
style or shape and contour of a piece of furniture can usually
be closely matched. Most of the time, color matching is the
hardest to accomplish. Time affects furniture in many ways.
Stains and natural coloring change over time due to their
exposure to sunlight and sometimes due to the materials in
the original finish. Dirt, has affects on painted surfaces,
as does ware and tear. Cleaners, polishes and solvents can
have affects on furniture as well. However, I am able to build
furniture to match most existing pieces.

.
Can you match the price of something I have found elsewhere?
.
Yes/No. Again, because all furniture is not made the same,
everyone's cost of making furniture is not the same. I pride
myself in making fine furniture. That is to say that I don't
like taking shortcuts and using cheaper woods simply to bring
down the price of a piece of furniture, all the while sacrificing
its integrity. I take every effort in making sure that anything
I build for you will last so that it does not have to be replaced
a year or two down the road. That is not to say that everything
I build is very expensive. Each piece stands on its own merit.
If the piece is very simple, it is possible that I can make
it for the same price that someone else charges. Each request
must be considered separately.

|
.
What kind of wood do you use?
.
I use many different species of woods. Each piece of furniture
is different in both it's function and it's form. Some woods
are more pleasing to the eye, while others are better for
their ability to function under constant use over time. Some
woods are soft while others are extremely hard. Some woods
take stain well while others do not. I use all solid woods
and some man made materials(when it is feasible). The reason
for the man made materials is that the wood industry has discovered
ways of using solid wood to manufacture materials that are
more stable over time. I do not use particle board in anything
I build. I will consider any request for a particular material.
|
|
.
How long does it take to have something made?
.
That depends. Most requests can be completed within 6 to 8
weeks from the time the estimate has been signed.
|
|
.
Do you refinish furniture?
.
No. It is not that I cannot refinish furniture, rather I chose
not to. Everybody is not great at everything, so stick to
what I do best.
|
|
.
Can you build anything?
.
Yes/No. I am capable of building just about any furniture
that is made out of wood. However, I am not the best at building
everything. I will consider any request to build furniture
and I will tell you if I think that you should contact someone
else for your request.
|
|
.
Do you make furniture with fabrics?
.
Currently, I don't make any furniture that has fabric permanently
attached. With that said, I will consider any request to make
any piece of furniture. I am always open to a challenge.
|
|
.
Can you finish something that was started and not completed?
.
Yes/No. If you have an unfinished project that you need completed,
I will gladly take a look at it. That is not to say that I
will always work on someone else's work. Everyone does not
do things the same way. For example, if you hired someone
to install bookshelves for you and they started the job but
did not complete the job, I may be able to finish the job
or I may suggest that you start over because of the way the
job was started to begin with.
|
|
.
Do you build decks, additions, garages, attics, etc...?
.
No. I specialize in fine furniture. I do not do any structural
work as I am not licensed to do so. I can work with someone
that is doing that work to incorporate special features, such
as built-in bookcases, wet bar, built-in entertainment centers,
etc
|
|
.
Can you work with a contractor?
. Yes. I will gladly work with anyone that you are
currently working with on a project in whatever capacity I
can. Although I am not licensed to build structural elements
such as walls I am very familiar with how it's done what it
takes to incorporate functional spaces.
